Ray Barton came to Great Clips in 1983 as CEO, joining founders David Rubenzer and Steve Lemmon who wanted to grow and, with Ray's expertise, franchise the Great Clips salon brand.
For almost 30 years, Ray led Great Clips through incredible growth, starting from four salons in Minneapolis in 1983 to more than 4,100 salons throughout the U.S. and Canada in 2017. He was named Chairman of the Board in 2011.
Prior to Great Clips, Ray spent four years with Grant Thornton in Denver and Minneapolis, before joining Century 21 real estate, developing and servicing franchisees in the north-central states.
Ray holds a Bachelor’s Degree from San Diego State University–California State University.
