The Great Clips App

What can I do with the Great Clips app?

So many things that will make your life easier! Check in online to save time waiting in the salon. Create a profile and then add favorite salons to make checking in online even easier. Be in the know when you opt in for email communications and push notifications.

Can I use the Great Clips app on multiple devices?

You can download the Great Clips app on any Android or Apple device. You can also access your profile and check in online via greatclips.com on any device or computer.

Are there in-app purchases?

Not at this time.

How do I suggest an improvement for the Great Clips app with you?

There’s a feedback option in the menu of the Great Clips app. Use the feedback form to submit ideas for the Great Clips app or about your salon experience.

How do I set up a haircut reminder?

It's easy! Go to the menu and select "Haircut Reminder". Select the  number of weeks between your haircuts in "Remind Me Every". Select "Save" on the bottom right of the screen. You can also select a specific day for your next remidner under "Next Reminder". Please note that you need to sign up for a profile and have notifications turned on in order to use this feature.

How do I edit a haircut reminder?

Just go to the Menu and select Haircut Reminder. From there, you can edit and save any haircut reminders you may have.

How do I stop receiving haircut reminders?

Go to the Menu and click "Haircut Reminders". At the top of the screen turn the "Haircut Reminders" button to the "off" position.

Why sign up and create a profile?

A profile lets you save favorite salons, which makes checking in online even faster. You can also add a haircut reminder. You can still check in online without signing up. It’s up to you!

What does Great Clips do with my profile information?

How do I reset my password?

On the Sign In screen, tap on "Forgot Your Password.” You’ll get an email with a link to change your password.

What if I can’t log in?

Go to the Sign In screen and tap "Forgot your Password.” You’ll get an email with a link to reset your password. If log in issues persist, delete and reinstall the app.

How do I sign out of the Great Clips app?

Go to Menu->Settings. At the bottom of the Settings screen, you’ll see a large grey button to “Sign Out.”

How do I close my account?

Send us a note in the feedback form or call 1-800-473-2825 to delete your profile information. Note, however, that Great Clips is unable to delete the app off your device remotely. You are able to delete the app from your device at any time.

How do I stop receiving push notifications?

Go to Menu->Settings in the Great Clips app and locate "Great Stuff Notifications." Switch to "Off" to turn off notifications. Note that notifications related to your haircut reminder are separate, you can also turn those on or off in Settings or in the haircut reminder screen. You can also turn off all push notifications from the Great Clips app by going to your phone settings.

How do I unsubscribe from emails?

Select the unsubscribe button from any email you receive from Great Clips, Inc.

When will I start receiving messages in my inbox?

It may take a few months before you receive messages. When you have new messages, you’ll see a number on the Messages icon on the app’s home screen.

How do I delete messages in my inbox?

On the right side of the message, swipe to the left. A red "delete" button will appear. Tap on the delete button to remove the message from your inbox. Note that messages will also automatically be removed from your inbox after a period of time.

Online Check-In

What is Online Check-In?

Online Check-In lets you add your name to the list before you arrive at your local Great Clips salon. It’s not an appointment, but it does let you add your name to the list before arriving at the salon to help save you time.

When is Online Check-In available?

Customers can check in online during the hours the salon is open.

How does Online Check-In save me time?

When you're on the wait list, chances are you'll be next or almost next in line when you arrive. Please note that if you do request a specific stylist upon arriving at the salon, your wait time may be longer.

Can I use Online Check-In for all types of services?

Yes, you can use Online Check-In for all services except perms and formal updo’s. Please note that not all salons offer perms. And, most salons require an appointment for these services, so please call the salon to inquire.

Can I request a stylist using Online Check-In?

No. For the stylist’s safety, we do not publish their schedules or allow customers to request them using Online Check-In. We do keep Clip Notes®, which keeps track of any previous haircut you received at a Great Clips salon, so any stylist can give you a great haircut. If you would like to request a particular stylist, be sure to say that when you arrive at the salon and finish your check-in. Note that requesting a stylist may increase your estimated wait time.

What do I do if I don't have a mobile device?

You can check in from any device that has internet (a smartphone, iPad, computer, etc.). Go to greatclips.com, click on Find a Salon or Check In. Enter your zip code or address and you'll be using Online Check-In in no time! If you don't have an Internet connection, you can always walk right in to any salon and add your name to the list.

How do I use Online Check-In?

On your phone, use our iPhone or Android Great Clips app. On your computer, go to the home page of our website (greatclips.com) and click the Check-In button. Or, visit the salon locator page, enter your postal code, choose a convenient location, and click the icon on the map. Then, tell us your name, how many people will be getting haircuts, and come on over!

When should I arrive at the salon?

Online Check-In lets us know you're on your way, so it's best to head right over right after you're done checking in. Once you arrive, let the stylists know you're there, and they’ll confirm your information and finish your check in.

Do I need to do anything when I arrive at the salon?

Be sure to let the stylists know when you arrive at the salon so they know you’re there and can finish your check in.

What happens if I arrive late?

We understand: Things happen! It’s not an appointment, so don't worry if you lose your keys, spill something, or get stuck in traffic. We'll keep your name on the list for a short period of time.

How do I cancel my check in?

Once you are checked in, the icon on the map will turn green and say "checked-in.” Click on the green icon for an option to cancel.

Why does the estimated wait time keep changing once I have checked in?

The estimated wait time is based on the current conditions in the salon. As customers check in and are served, and as the team members change shifts, your estimated wait time adjusts accordingly.

Why was my name not on the wait list when I arrived at the salon?

Most salons keep Online Check-In customers on the wait list for about an hour or at least the length of their estimated wait time at check in. Online Check-In is not an appointment; you are saving your place in line and we encourage you to head to the salon after you've checked in. Occasionally, customers check in at the wrong salon, so make sure to double check the map and/or address to confirm you are checking in at the correct salon.

Why was the estimated wait time different when I arrived at the salon from when I finished my check in?

The estimated wait time is based on the current conditions in the salon. As customers check in and are served, and as the team members change shifts, your estimated wait time adjusts accordingly.

Products and Services

Do Great Clips salons sell haircare products?

Yes, Great Clips offers three lines of its exclusively branded haircare and styling products for men, women, and kids, including Solutions by Great Clips®, Tea Tree Solutions by Great Clips®, and GRIT @ Great Clips™. Salons also carry many commercial brands, such as American Crew®, Paul Mitchell®, and Sexy Hair®. Check out the complete line of products here. (Haircare products in stock may vary by salon.)

What services does Great Clips provide?

All Great Clips salons offer haircuts for the entire family. Additional services include a shampoo, a blow dry, or styling such as an updo or French braids. We also offer perms at select salons. Please contact your salon to check the services offered.

Does Great Clips color hair?

That's something we do not do.

Does Great Clips offer perms?

Yes, but not in every salon. Use the salon locator on the Great Clips app or our website to find the phone number of your nearest salon. Then, call to find out if they offer perms.

Where do I find a salon’s location and hours?

Use the salon locator on greatclips.com, click the check-in image on the app for a map of salons near you, or call 800-473-2825 to find a Great Clips salon.

Can I make an appointment?

Great Clips is a walk-in haircare salon, so you don’t schedule an appointment in advance. You can simply walk in! Online Check-In can help you find a salon nearest you so you can add your name to the list before heading to the salon
