Operation: Fishing Freedom

Documenting the lives of military veterans

Operation: Fishing Freedom shares the stories of veterans from all eras of war to viewers across the United States and Canada. Professional fishermen Jay Garstecki and Ben Olsen take veterans fishing and document their history and stories.

Jay and Ben started the television show after five years of taking veterans fishing through their non-profit Take a Vet Fishing. They saw the healing effects of fishing on post-traumatic stress and started the show to preserve and highlight the stories of veterans.

Jay and Ben have now taken over 25 veterans out on the water over three seasons. Each episode highlights a different non-profit organization that helps veterans with PTSD and resources for veterans to transition to civilian life.

At Great Clips we’re proud to sponsor and financially support the Operation: Fishing Freedom Foundation to help ensure veterans can continue sharing their stories.
