MINNEAPOLIS, Feb. 28, 2013—With more than 1,000 salons participating across North America, the Great Clips 2012 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals balloon campaign capped off another successful year, raising $500,000 to support healthcare for children.
Congratulations to the top two selling salons, both of which ran phenomenal campaigns raising money for their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital:
• Market Center Shoppes Great Clips Salon in Charleston, S.C. [Roger Allen, franchisee] raised $5,453
• Midtown Place Great Clips Salon in Atlanta, GA [Brenda Maslamani, franchisee] raised $5,174
To recognize these great deeds, both salons received the campaign’s traveling trophy. Each salon worked tirelessly on their campaign and had a personal connection to the cause.
Market Center Shoppes Salon—Charleston, S.C.
Franchisee Roger Allen credits his incredible staff, especially manager Kathy Sheffield and the passion she brings to the campaign. “Kathy and her family have first-hand knowledge of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals,” he said. “Her granddaughter, Jesse’, has had 27 major surgeries in 13 years of her life. So, the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital is very dear to her.”
Sheffield credits her “miracle” granddaughter—who was born with a hole in her heart and not expected to live 48 hours—as the inspiration for the Market Center Shoppe salon’s annual balloon campaign. In fact, Jesse’ is used in the salon’s advertising for the campaign. “Once my team met her, got on a personal level with her and became aware of other miracle children, they became really motivated,” Sheffield said. “We want to make our team shine with what we do for our children. We just all get really into the campaign.”
Allen owns nine Great Clips salons—seven in Charleston and two in the Savannah market—for a total contribution of $18,093 to MUSC Children’s Hospital in Charleston, S.C. This is the second time the Market Center Shoppes salon has been the top-selling Great Clips salon for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals fundraiser. The salon also won the coveted trophy for Great Clips’ 2010 campaign.
Midtown Place Salon—Atlanta
This is the second year in a row that the Midtown Place salon team has been one of the top fundraising salons. Franchisee Brenda Maslamani credits the success to her staff, especially salon manager Chris Worley who did an amazing job getting everyone excited and passionate about the cause by taking them on a tour of the NICU unit at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Atlanta. “What can I say about Chris but Manager Extraordinaire,” said Maslamani. “He’s focused, driven, believes in giving everything 110 percent and is fun, sweet and thoughtful.”
Maslamani owns five Great Clips salons in Atlanta and nine in Augusta. Together, her salons raised $14,000 for the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital in Atlanta.
