MINNEAPOLIS, March 1, 2012—Great Clips, the world’s largest hair salon brand, wants “An App A Day” to help save and improve the lives of as many ill or injured chidren as possible.
For every download of Great Clips’ Online Check-In app, a donation will be made to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals—up to $10,000. The donations will go to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to purchase equipment and fund a variety of life-saving procedures and treatments for seriously ill or injured children.
“We are so excited about the success of our online check-in that we want to give back to a great cause,” says Rhoda Olsen, Great Clips CEO. “When our customers download this amazing technology, they will help themselves save time and they may also help save the life of a suffering child.”
Great Clips’ revolutionary Online Check-In allows customers to remotely log-in from a computer or smart phone and view the estimated wait time at surrounding salons. Consumers can click the “check-in” icon to add their name to the list at the Great Clips salon of their choice, and by the time they arrive they are likely next or almost next in line.
Online Check-In is catching on, with more than one million Great Clips customers checking in online systemwide in 2011 and an average of more than 200,000 checking in online per month in 2012.
Great Clips’ goal for March is for every salon employee, salon owner and corporate team member to get one person to download the app every day during March. If you do the math, that’s 30,000 people times 31 days for a total of nearly one milllion downloads in one month!
“We know this is ambitious, but we believe in our people and we know they will help us reach this goal,” says Terri Miller, vice president of marketing and communications. “Our customers who use the app love the time it saves them. And, our donation to Children’s Miracle Network for downloads in March makes it an even bigger and better incentive.”
This is the latest push in Great Clips’ fun yet aggressive marketing campaign to spread the word about Online Check-In. The campaign includes humorous TV and radio commercials, online banner ads, in-salon marketing materials and a public relations and social media push.
