Great Clips to Turn Up the Heat at Phoenix International Speedway

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 9, 2010—Great Clips and Turner Motorsports look to turn up the heat at Phoenix International Speedway (PIR) this weekend, with two entries in Friday’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Lucas Oil 150 and two entries in Saturday’s NASCAR Nationwide Series WYPALL 200.

Jason Leffler, who currently sits in 8th place overall in the Nationwide Series standings, will pilot the No. 38 Great Clips Toyota. Leffler is coming off his 13th top-10 finish, and in 12 Nationwide Series starts at PIR, has two top-five and four top-ten finishes. His best finish at PIR came last year, when he finished second. Leffler will be joined by James Buescher, who will be behind the No. 11 Great Clips Toyota. Buescher also ran the No. 11 Toyota for Great Clips at Fontana.

“Phoenix is one of my favorite tracks on the NASCAR circuit. I spent a lot of time out there as a kid and ran the Copper Classic for a number of years. It’s a slick, old race track and unique in that both ends are so different and the surface is so worn out,” Leffler said. “The Great Clips team is having a strong run here at the end, after what has been a really up and down season. Still, ending the year strong can give you a lot of momentum going into the next season.”

Fans can catch all the action live on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. The race will also be broadcast live on the radio on MRN.

On Friday, Brad Sweet makes his 7th star behind the No. 90 Great Clips Chevrolet Silverado, while Buescher will pilot the No. 31 Great Clips Chevrolet Silverado. Sweet will also run the No. 90 Great Clips Chevrolet Silverado in the NCWTS Season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on Nov. 19.
“I ran Phoenix last year. It’s an extremely technical track. Turns one and two are very different than turns three and four,” Sweet said. “It will be nice to have James [Buescher] and Ricky [Carmichael] as teammates. I can go to them if I have any questions or want to bounce and idea off them. I am confident we will have a strong run on Friday night.”

Friday’s race will be broadcast live on SPEED at 7:30 p.m. ET. Coverage on MRN begins at 7:45 p.m. ET.
