MINNEAPOLIS, June 15, 2011—On Monday, June 27, 2011, Great Clips, Inc. will hold its annual Great Clips Charity Golf Classic at Bearpath Golf and Country Club in Eden Prairie, Minn. In its 15th year, the event has raised more than $2.3 million dollars for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
Funds from this year’s tournament will benefit the Family Needs Fund, which helps to provide money for unexpected costs to relieve some of the burden this places on families. This allows families the ability to spend more time learning about and participating in their child’s treatment. Last year’s event raised $240,000—the highest amount raised in the Classic’s 15-year history.
Also scheduled as part of the event, Great Clips Racing and NASCAR drivers James Buescher, Cody Darrah, Jason Leffler and Brad Sweet will tour Children’s before meeting with the kids and their families. The drivers will also participate in the golf event on Monday morning.
“Our community has given us great support over the years, which has been instrumental in being able to continue our support of Children’s,” said Ray Barton, Great Clips chairman of the board. “Each year, the Classic continues to grow and raise more money for a great organization. We’re excited for this year’s event, and the opportunity to continue our work with Children’s.”
Also supporting Children’s, the local Great Clips salon community has raised more than $650,000 over the past 18 years to support various underfunded programs at Children’s through events such as cut-a-thons.
